Barracuda E-mail Archive System Barracuda Networks, Inc., a leading provider of network security solutions, has announced the Barracuda Message Archiver, providing a comprehensive and affordable email archiving solution.

The Barracuda Message Archiver helps organizations and businesses of all sizes compile and archive all incoming and outgoing emails with storage and efficiency in mind. Capable of importing historical and existing email, The Barracuda Message Archiver completely indexes messages by content and attachments with the option to add tags for customized searches. Auditors or end-users can perform quick searches based on tags or message content.

Emails can then be exported and forwarded back to the users inbox.

The Barracuda Message Archiver includes a built-in storage array and allows businesses and organizations to expand storage to include external devices and arrays. This allows storage flexibility enabling organizations to move emails from costly, transaction based storage required for production servers to inexpensive storage options. The Barracuda Message Archiver removes duplicate emails and attachments from a thread, ensuring there is only one copy to compress before storing it in the system file, maximizing storage capacity.

The Barracuda Message Archiver provides everything an organization needs to comply with government regulations and it provides easy to install and administer plug-and-go hardware solutions. Providing comprehensive archiving, search and retrieval, intelligent storage capabilities, and great policy management, The Barracuda Message Archiver is powerful, efficient, and easy to use.

"Most organizations rely on email as a primary method of business communications, yet, the reality is that any organization that does not implement a strong email archiving solution faces a potentially astronomical hit both financially and in terms of resources if ever called upon to provide copies of email that they do not have, or cannot access quickly." - Barracuda Networks Inc.

*UPDATE - Public Schools Required To Archive*

New ruling by the Supreme Court mandates that all e-mail and instant messages are subject to legal review and thus, Schools, businesses, and other organizations must now archive all their current e-mail.  The new Federal laws state that all businesses and organizations must keep a record of all digital communications including e-mail, instant messages, and even VOIP.

In any legal dispute both sides are expected to produce any and all electronically stored data relevant to the case and share it with the opposing litigation and any organization which prematurely deletes or copies over files could face severe penalties.  These new rulings could pose problems for those schools and districts which do not have adequate funding for new equipment and technology, but must also adhere to the Federal Law.
